Auditions Open for Arts in Motion’s Production of Annie
Arts in Motion (AIM), a community youth theater arts education program, has announced that auditions are open for their newest production, Annie, to be performed in November. Auditions will be held on August 18 and 19 at the Alliance Church in Zephyrhills with a Pre-Casting Rehearsal on August 15, also at the Alliance Church.
The new production is being led by local Director, Connie LaMarca-Frankel of Dade City. Frankel has worked with Arts in Motion in the past and said, “I am so excited to be working with children again for Arts in Motion. Children and young people bring me so much energy and joy that it is impossible for me not to be positive about the future.”
Frankel has an impressive resume and will bring a great deal of experience in working with children to the production. She is Professor and Chair of Humanities at Pasco-Hernando State College and has an M.F.A. in Directing from the University of Wisconsin- Madison. While her specialty is youth theatre directing A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Annie, Cinderella, The Trial of The Big Bad Wolf, and The Best Christmas Pageant Ever for Arts in Motion, she has also directed adults in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, The Crucible, The Odd Couple, The Good Doctor, and Carousel. Frankel is a founding member of the Tampa Repertory Company and directed their productions of Cold Storage, Phoenix, I Do! I Do! , and Silent Sky.
Also on board as Musical Director is Alison Graham, director of the Showstoppers performance group. Frankel and Graham are enthusiastic about bringing Annie to life. “I am excited as well to be working with Alison Graham. She has given so much of herself to the community through her studio,” said Frankel.
Annie will be performed at Pasco Middle School on November 10 through November 12. Shirley Surratt, president of the Arts in Motion Board of Directors, said, “We are really pleased with our production staff and look forward to auditions and casting the show. There is a great deal of talent in our area and we can’t wait to see what these kids will bring to our production.”
