Meadow Pointe II Continues to Fight over Access to Roadways

Meadow Pointe II has hired legal counsel in their fight to restrict access to Meadow Pointe III residents. If you don’t live in the area, the issue might be confusing to you. The entrance to the Meadow Pointe II community leads drivers through Meadow Pointe II, and eventually into Meadow Pointe III.Here is a map that shows the issue at hand.

As you can see from the map, the quickest way to get home, or to work, for many MP3 residents is to take Wrencrest drive to Mansfield Blvd to State Road 56. The issue is, Board Members of MP2 say that the MP3 residents going through their community on the way in and out are causing damage to roadways and presenting safety issues to MP2.

For years, an agreement has allowed those that live in this section of MP3 to use the MP2 gate. But the agreement expired, and now the fight is on.

Meadow Pointe II installed metal poles to block MP3 residents from using their road.

Over the last few weeks, Meadow Pointe II’s CDD has put up barriers and stop arms, both of those moves were later halted by the county. The county says the CDD for Meadow Pointe II did not get a proper permit for the barrier and installed it within just a few days.

Pasco County Judge William Sestak signed an injunction ordering Meadow Pointe 2 to remove the barriers.

Now they’re taking it a step further, bringing lawyers in.

Letter sent from MP2 Board to Pasco County

Perhaps most perplexing of all, the roadways in both MP2 and MP3 are public roadways, built with public money via the Meadow Pointe II and III CDD Boards. By law, they are to be open to the public.

Updates will be posted on this page as they become available.
