WESLEY CHAPEL — Shoppers in Wesley Chapel are about to experience retail on a whole new scale. After nearly three years of planning and construction, the long-awaited Target at The Grove is officially set to open on Saturday, October 12, bringing with it the title of one of the largest Target stores in the United States.

Located on Oakley Boulevard, the new store spans a staggering 148,500 square feet, roughly 15% larger than a standard Target. The size reflects the retailer’s next-generation design strategy, which emphasizes open layouts, wider aisles, and expanded sections for grocery items, apparel, electronics, and online order fulfillment.
While the “Super Target” brand name has been retired, this new location certainly lives up to that reputation. It features a Starbucks Café, CVS Pharmacy, Target Optical, and an Apple at Target section. It also includes expanded grocery offerings, electric vehicle charging stations, and energy-efficient lighting.
The larger footprint supports Target’s evolving “stores-as-hubs” model, where local stores double as fulfillment centers for same-day delivery, pickup, and drive-up orders. That means faster service for online shoppers and improved convenience for busy Wesley Chapel residents.
The new design also incorporates eco-friendly elements such as natural refrigerants, solar-ready roofing, and sustainable building materials, aligning with Target’s nationwide push toward carbon reduction and modern retail design.
Target officials have said the Wesley Chapel store will employ about 170 team members, adding new jobs to one of the fastest-growing communities in Florida.
The opening marks another milestone for The Grove at Wesley Chapel, a thriving retail and entertainment hub that already includes the KRATE microshops, restaurants, movie theaters, and national retailers. Local leaders believe the addition of Target will boost the area’s economic growth and attract even more businesses to Pasco County.
The Grove has become a central destination for shopping, dining, and entertainment in Wesley Chapel, and Target’s arrival is expected to bring an influx of visitors from across Pasco and northern Hillsborough counties.
For shoppers, the new Target means fewer long drives to other major retail centers — and more convenience right in their backyard.
The grand opening on October 12 will feature store tours, special promotions, and the chance to experience one of the most modern retail layouts in the country.
