Tampa Premium Outlet Traffic Leaves Drivers Stranded for Hours

WESLEY CHAPEL - Black Friday shopping turned into a nightmare for several thousand shoppers at the Tampa Premium Outlets off State Road 56 and I75. Drivers reported waiting in lines for 3 to 4 hours to exit the mall. Some ran out of gas while others had to abandon their vehicles to go get food or supplies or use the restroom.

Traffic was particularly jammed between 2:00pm and did not clear until about 9:00pm when local law enforcement closed portions of State Road 56 to let mall traffic out. We reached out to FDOT and Simon Malls for comment but they did not respond prior to publication.

Thanks for the info. I live in San Antonio and this will be a good route for me to get to Florida Medical Clinic.

This county keeps electing Republicans to the commission, then they act surprised when those same Republicans do what Republicans always do. Putting the interests of big business, big money and big developers ahead of the people who actually live here. This place has become a soulless sprawl of traffic, chain restaurants, and self-storage units. Where is the emphasis on small local business? There is none. Instead Wesley Chapel is turning into Walmartland. Hell, they've even approved another Amazon distribution center here. Thousands of low wage jobs. Congrats voters. You got what you wanted.

Everybody on the Pasco County Commission is corrupt, if not an outright criminal like Jack Mariano.

Congratulations Short Sited Crooked County Commissioners, you have created Brandon "Ring of Hell," North. Pasco County hell bent on destroying the ability to move around, having quite neighborhoods and intelligent planning one stupid project at a time. This mall is unnecessary and more damaging to this area than eny of the other dumb projects that they approved. How is Cypress Creek pollution that is now flowing intk the Hillsborough River? You know the main drinking water for City of Tampa. The whole interchange is a disaster, with real traffic it can take 10 minutes just to navigate through it. What a shame that Pasco has been destroyed by greedy, shady, short-sited and crooked politicians. I hated Brandon so i d…
